Narrative
FILLMORE CO., NE – A boy died, and an elderly woman sustained injuries two weeks ago in a wrong-way crash along the highway in northeast Fillmore County.
The accident happened around 7:45 a.m. on Highway 6 near County Road 24, which is just east of Exeter. This is about 51 miles southeast of Lincoln.
Police say that a young driver of a Mazda MX-5 may have been using a phone or other electronic device when he veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Ford Ranger.
The driver of the Mazda died at the scene.
Medics transported the 83-year-old driver of the Ford to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.
