GARFIELD COUNTY, NE – A multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning near Burwell left two people injured, one seriously.
The incident unfolded on a stretch of Highway 91 between the cities of Taylor and Burwell. It was first reported by the Nebraska State Patrol at about 8:35 a.m.
According to officials, three vehicles were stopped at a construction zone when a fourth vehicle approached and hit the rear of a pickup truck’s attached trailer. The fourth vehicle then went on to hit the first vehicle in line, and then the highway flagger.
First responders had the flagger rushed to an Ord hospital. From there, the victim was transported by airlift to Kearney Hospital for major injuries.
The driver of the fourth vehicle, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to an Ord hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate.
