Narrative
BUFFALO COUNTY, NE – A 48-year-old man died early Thursday, August 1, after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle near northeast Kearney.
The fatal incident was reported at the intersection of East 56th Street, just east of Antelope Avenue, at around 5:20 a.m.
According to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, a Kearney resident, was on a bike and traveling eastbound on East 56th Street when he was hit from the back by an eastbound car driven by a 39-year-old man, also of Kearney.
The cyclist succumbed to injuries suffered in the crash, confirmed officials. No injuries to the driver were reported.
While drugs or alcohol are not suspected factors in the accident, an investigation into the circumstances of the event remains in progress, and an autopsy has been ordered by the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office.
